Vic Zhou (ZaiZai)’s idol drama ‘Black & White’ premiered on Saturday on PTV, and ratings opened with 1.11, winning over Jerry Yan’s ‘Starlit’ finale ratings of 0.5. ZaiZai’s ruffian ‘smokey eyes’ attracted 649,000 people!
‘Black & White’ premiered on Saturday and received good feedback from netizens. Many praised ZaiZai’s performance, saying that he had escaped his melancholy prince image, and he did an extremely good job in portraying a frivolous and playboy policeman. Plus, with his many sufferings, explosions, sprinting through tunnels, sweating from wearing a suit in a non air-conditioned building, and finally bumping into Director Cai, who is known for his slow filming. So although Zaizai doesn’t have as many action scenes as Mark Zhao, he did not get to taste any sweetness either!
Besides a breakthrough in ZaiZai’s acting, newcomer Mark Zhao and Ivy Chen’s performance also received praise from netizens and they commented that they didn’t even seem like newcomers. And Kingone Wang’s classic drug-user look attracted comments like “Has he really done drugs before?” Also, with a Hollywood expert helping with the explosion scenes, even Director Cai was in awe of the superb ‘explodes but not harming any nearby buildings’ technology. Towards the good ratings, he said modestly: “Actually there is still room for improvement!”
Towards his ex-F4 member ZaiZai’s good results, although Jerry Yan wasn’t able to watch the first episode due to work commitments, he was full of good comments. His manager Fenny expressed: “He’s also worked with Director Cai, and right from the beginning, he said that he is definitely anticipating this drama!” She also added that Jerry only places importance on doing a good job as an actor; he won’t care too much about things like ratings which he can’t control.
